Bob Lawson

Lawson lettered in football (1948-51), men’s basketball (1950-52), track (1950-52), and tennis (1950).

On the gridiron, Lawson helped lead the Braves to a record of 25-12. He earned First Team All-KCAC honors in 1951 on the offensive and defensive line. Lawson led the Braves to a KS Conference Championship in 1948 and to a KCAC Championship in 1950. As a senior he was co-captain of the football team.

As a member of the OU men’s basketball team, Lawson helped the Braves to a two year record of 34-16. In those two years, the Braves won two KCAC championships, had one appearance in the NAIA National Tournament, and two Kansas NAIA Playoff appearances.

On the track, Lawson helped the Braves to three KCAC Championships. In 1950 he earned All-KCAC honors in the javelin. The next spring Lawson was named KCAC Individual Champion in the javelin. In 1952 he earned All-KCAC honors in the discus.

Lawson is the great uncle of other BAHOF inductees, Jeff L. Hull and Michael L. Hull, and retired as a successful insurance company executive to Sun City West, Arizona.
