Geise lettered in football (1951-52), basketball (1949-53), and track (1950-53).
On the gridiron, playing on his junior and senior seasons, Geise helped lead the Braves to a record of 14-4 playing under head coach Dick Peters.
As a member of the OU men’s basketball team, Geise led OU to a four year record of 68-28. He helped OU to three KCAC Championships (1950-51, 1951-52, 1952-53) and one second place finish (1949-50). Geise was a four-time All-Conference performer earning First Team honors three times. He is ranked in the top 10 in the OU record book in scoring (1,438).
On the track, Geise helped lead the Braves to four straight KS Conference and KCAC Championships. Geise was a four-time All-Conference performer in the discus and was the Conference champion in the discus in 1951, 1952, and 1953.
Geise went on to teach for 35 years in Kansas high schools, and was a coach for 32 of those years. He was inducted into the Kansas Basketball Coaches’ Hall of Fame in 1990. In 2008, The Braves Athletic Hall of Fame created the “Dudley Geise NAIA Champions of Character Award” in recognition of his character and leadership. The award honors a current OU female and male athlete who exhibit outstanding sportsmanship.
