Wilson lettered in men’s basketball (1957-58, 1959-60) and track (1957-60) for the Braves

He helped the men’s basketball team to a record of 32-16. Wilson was part of the 1957-58 KCAC Championship team and the Kansas NAIA Playoff team.

Where Wilson excelled was on the track. As a decathlon performer, he fell just 300 points short of qualifying for the Olympic trials. He helped lead the Braves to four straight KCAC Team Championships. Wilson was the 1957 KCAC Individual Champion in the broad jump. He earned All-KCAC honors in the high jump, the 440 Yard Dash, and the 440 Yard Dash. A year later in 1958, Wilson earned All-KCAC honors in the broad jump. As a junior in 1959, he earned All-KCAC honors in the 100 Yard Dash and the 220 Yard Dash. In his final year, Wilson was the 1960 KCAC Individual Champion in the broad jump. He earned All-KCAC honors in the pole vault, the 440 Yard Dash, the 100 Yard Dash, and the 220 Yard Dash.

After graduating from Ottawa University Wilson went on to Howard University, studying to become a doctor. He did his internship at St. Francis Hospital and his surgical residency in the Tucson Hospital Medical Education Program. Wilson founded three medical practices and the radio station KTPK-FM.
