Richard Spong

Spong earned letters in football (1960-63) and track (1961-64) for the Braves.

He helped lead the Braves to a four year record of 35-3 playing for head coach Dick Peters. Spong was part of the 1960 and 1961 KCAC Championship teams and helped the Braves win 23 straight games. Both teams finished the season undefeated with 9-0 records. Spong was a three-time All-KCAC selection, earning First team honors in 1963. He was named Honorable Mention All-KCAC in 1961 and 1962.

On the track Spong was part of the 1964 KCAC Team Championship. He earned All-KCAC honors in 1961 and 1963 in the 440 Yard Dash and the 220 Yard Dash.

After graduating from Ottawa University Spong went on to the University of Missouri at Kansas City to get his law degree.
