Koranda was a three-time KCAC Javelin Champion (runner-up as a senior), finishing in the top three at the District 10 meet in 1991, 1992, and 1993 and Champion in 1994. He was a three-time NAIA All-American in the javelin (8th in 1991, 5th in 1993 and 4th in 1994); a two-time Penn State Champion; placed first in 16 meets during his collegiate career; and was a member of the NAIA All-Star team that traveled to Barcelona, Spain, where he became the Catalonian National Champion, with a college career best throw of 210’ 10”. He still holds the OU school record (new javelin) with a throw of 205’ 7”.

Current/Past Business, Profession or Occupation:
Shane is in his 18th year as a teacher and coach. During his career, he has coached football, wrestling, baseball, and track & field and served as an athletic director. At Fort Hays State University (KS), he helped produce 4 indoor and 7 outdoor NCAA All-Americans, including a District II National Javelin Champion; at St. John’s Military School (KS), he coached 2 league champions in Track; at Sanders Middle School (AZ), his football teams were 15-1 with 1 league champion, he produced 17 league wrestling champions and coached 3 high school state placers in track. Recently, in Wichita, he has produced two league runner-up track teams and a two-time undefeated team champion, as well as numerous Top-6 and All-City Track Champions. Shane is also in his 15th year as a KSHSAA sports official, and is the acting crew chief in football, in wrestling (including 8 state tournaments) and track.

Current/Past Community Involvement:
Shane serves as a deacon for his church, sits on the board of directors for the Pregnancy & Family Resource Centers, and has been involved with the Boy Scouts of America for 37 years.
