Larry was a four-year letterman in football and two-year letterman in baseball. He was a member of the 1970 KCAC Overall and North Division Championship team and led the conference in receptions that year. He also earned NAIA All-American Honorable Mention honors and was named First Team All-Conference in 1970. In his junior season, he led the HAAC in receptions and ranked eighth in NAIA with 54. Against Southwestern College he had a 94 yard kickoff return for a touchdown that still stands as the fourth longest in the OU record books. In the Mineral Water Bowl, Larry had six receptions for 167 yards and a career long, 82 yard touchdown catch. He also served as vice-president of OU’s Black Student Union for two terms, working with the school and the community to develop a greater understanding placing character above color.
