Brenton lettered in basketball (1936-40), track (1938-40), and football (1938-39).
As a member of the men’s basketball team, Brenton earned First Team All-KS Conference honors four times. He helped lead the Braves to a record of 50-22, three KS Conference titles, and a trip to the NAIA National Tournament in 1937-38.
Brenton excelled on the track as well for the Braves. He earned All-KS Conference honors in the 220 Yard Dash in 1938 and in the 440 Yard Dash in 1939 and 1940. Brenton helped the Braves to the 1938 and 1939 KS Conference Championship.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Air Force.
