Vaughn Kimbrough

Kimbrough earned letters in football (1947-50) and track (1948-51).

He led the Braves to a four year record of 25-11 and to two KS Conference Championships (1947 and 1948) and one KCAC Championship (1950). Kimbrough earned Second Team All-KCAC honors at running back as a junior. He was a First Team All-KCAC selection as a senior and averaged six yards per carry.

On the track, Kimbrough helped lead the Braves to four KS Conference and KCAC Championships. In 1948 he earned All-KS Conference honors in the 220 Yard Low Hurdles. A year later, Kimbrough was the KS Conference Champion in the 440 Yard Run and the 220 Yard Low Hurdles. In 1950, Kimbrough earned his third straight All-Conference honor in the 220 Yard Low Hurdles. As a senior in 1951 he was the KCAC Individual Champion in the 220 Yard Low Hurdles. Kimbrough was team captain as a sophomore.

After graduating from OU, Vaughn taught at Havensville High School, Horton High School, Leavenworth High School, and Bonner Springs High School. After retiring he went to work in insurance and construction.
