Wally Forsberg

Wally Forsberg arrived at Ottawa University in the fall of 1946 to coach football, basketball and track (1946-47 to 1948-49). He led the OU football team to an overall record of 20-6-2 for a .714 winning percentage and two KS Conference Championships. Forsberg coached 14 All-Conference performers on the football field.

In his three seasons as head men’s basketball coach (46-19), Forsberg won three KS Conference titles and finished with an overall record of 46-19. He led OU to three NAIA Playoffs, coached 13 All-Conference performers, one NAIA All-American, and led OU to Wilson Field House’s first collegiate victory over Bethany College.

As head men’s track and field coach, Forsberg led OU to three KS Conference titles. He coached 14 Conference Individual Champions and 64 All-Conference performers.

Forsberg graduated from Kansas State University and received seven athletic letters competing in basketball, track and baseball. He also served in the U.S. Navy, spending 23 months in the South Pacific during World War II aboard a destroyer as a Lieutenant.
