Dave Owen receives the Huck Boyd Award

HUCK BOYD AWARD

Dave Owen, Chairman of the David C. Owen Leadership Institute and a 1960 graduate of Ottawa University was presented with the “Huck Boyd Award” at the Kansas Republican Party Convention by party chairman Mike Brown, in recognition of 65 years of service to the party and the State of Kansas. Huck Boyd was an icon of Republican leadership having been a candidate for Governor in 1960 and 1964 and served as Republican National Committeeman from 1967 until his death in 1987. He was recognized as Kansan of the year and is in the Kansas Newspaper Hall of fame as publisher of the Phillipsburg County Review.

Dave Owen served Kansas and the Republican party as State Senator, Lt. Governor, Candidate for Governor, State Republican Party Chairman, delegate to the Republican National convention twice and campaign chairman for US Senator Bob Dole.
