Adjunct instructor Garth Smith grew up in Kansas City, MO and lived in Saudi Arabia for 11 years working for an airline with a contract to train employees of Saudi Arabian Airlines to operate the airline self-sufficiently. He was a human resources manager and then the overall project manager for the airline. Since that time he has made a career in the behavioral health field as Director of Network Operations for New Directions Behavioral Health, an organization owed by several Blue Cross insurance plans. His expertise in negotiating contracts with health care providers, developing educational workshops, profiling professionals, and analyzing specialty needs for individuals in need of health services has given him a rich background for instructing in the areas of management, social services and health care on both undergraduate and graduate levels.
