Hatshepsitu Massey, MS

Adjunct Professor in Arts & Sciences

MS - University of Maryland
BS - Spelman College

Hatshepsitu Massey was born and raised in Washington, DC. (Yes, she is one of the few who is not a transplant. :-)  She loves attending music concerts and plays and has a passion for food: cooking shows, learning new recipes, eating at the different restaurants like all of the trendy and new food trucks in the Washington, DC area.

Hatshepsitu received her Bachelor’s in Mathematics from Spelman College in Atlanta, GA and decided to return home for graduate school afterwards. She received her Master’s in Applied Mathematics and Scientific Computation from the University of Maryland, College Park. She has been a tutor since her freshman year in college, so it was a natural fit for her to be a teaching assistant in graduate school. There Hatschepsitu really discovered that her passion was helping others better understand math and helping them discover that math can actually be fun. In addition, Hatshepsitu has been a mathematics tutor for students ranging in ages from elementary school through college for over 15 years.
