The CDP mission is to maximize the number of positive student-to-employer connections through professional experiences leading to placement into full-time, career-launching roles upon graduation.

To get there, OU undergraduates can use the Challenge Mindset approach to think more deeply about how to use their chosen majors to solve real-world challenges that interest them.

When students start with “challenges” instead of job titles (which are constantly changing), they free themselves to look beyond what they already know. The Challenge Mindset approach flips the typical “take-a-quiz-get-a-job-title-first” model. While students must identify targeted job titles to conduct effective job searches, the career development journey should always start with a clear “why”.

In line with the OU Mission and Vision, the Challenge Mindset approach emphasizes that we find our true purpose when we choose to serve others.
