Amanda Fields is an Associate Professor of Biology in the School of Arts and Sciences with an office located at the Ottawa, Kansas, campus. She received her BA in biology from Ottawa University, her MS in biology from the University of Nebraska, and her DBA from Ottawa University. Her research at Nebraska focused on potential transmitters of methicillin-resistant S. aureus, specifically currency as a potential vector. Her DBA research project focused on how active learning strategies in an introductory biology classroom affected student performance and retention.

Amanda has been teaching at Ottawa University since 2012 and has taught various classes including Principles of Biology, Medical Terminology, Genetics, Developmental Biology Lab, Environmental Literature, Orientation to the Academy, Introduction to Nutrition, Microbiology Lab, and General Biology Lab. In 2023, Amanda was awarded the Faculty Teaching Award for exceptional engagement of students and learning and innovative pedagogy.
