Associate Professor of Applied Psychology 

PhD in Experimental Psychology - Kansas State University

Dr. Clarence Rohrbaugh joined the Ottawa University, Ottawa campus in the Spring of 2024. His PhD in experimental psychology is from Kansas State University where he studied human judgement and decision making.

Dr. Rohrbaugh has published research and given conference presentations in the field of judgment and decision making and written a chapter on decision making in the Handbook of Applied Cognition. He was Chair of the Department of Behavioral Sciences at his previous university for 15 years. During his tenure there he helped establish the protocols for research involving human participants and was Chair of the Institutional Review Board. With help from the school Dean he established the first physical research lab for the department of psychology. His work in student retention, outcomes assessment, and strategic planning lead the department to numerous successful University and Higher Learning Commission reviews.

As a classroom facilitator Dr. Rohrbaugh has taught numerous courses including cognitive psychology, physiology, sensation and perception, statistics, and research design. He has mentored numerous students who have presented their research at national and regional conferences and provided tutoring for students in need. His focus on students was recognized by his receipt of the Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award.

Outside of academics, Dr. Rohrbaugh has worked as the assistant director for emergency energy assistance in Maryland, general manager of a printing and mailing company in Washington, D.C., and customer order specialist for THD. He has a wife and six adult children, and dabbles in model rocketry, genealogy, and online gaming.
