Michelle has been employed with Ottawa University since November 2014. She started in the Finance Department, where she worked in accounting operations. Her role evolved to include working directly on financing and project management for many projects on campus, including the Gangwish Library/Student Union, campus dorm renovations, the Braves Athletic Performance Center, along with the start-up of the OUAZ campus and building projects there.
Michelle started adjunct teaching in 2022 and quickly realized that she wanted to pursue a full-time teaching position. She left OU’s Finance Department in June 2022 and worked in government accounting for a local park district. Michelle returned to OU in August 2024 as a Visiting Assistant Professor. In her current role, she is the Assistant Professor of Accounting at the Ottawa, Kansas campus. Michelle enjoys interaction with students and brings real-life examples to the classroom.
Michelle loves Ottawa University! As an undergraduate, she attended OU and received her Bachelor of Arts in Accounting (1992). She received her Master of Business Administration with Finance concentration in 2018. During her career, Michelle has held accounting/finance positions in merchandising, manufacturing, and service organizations. She is a member of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA).
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family. She also likes crafting, quilting, and kayaking.
