Rachele Salvini is a writer, translator, and educator specializing in creative writing. She is the Director of the Writing Center at Ottawa University, where she teaches a variety of English and writing classes.
She is mostly a fiction and creative nonfiction writer. She grew up in Italy, where she pursued a BA at University of Florence, but studied abroad in Oslo, Norway, and at Sarah Lawrence College, New York. She pursued a MA in Creative Writing at University of Westminster, London, and then a PhD in English and Creative Writing at Oklahoma State University, where she taught Composition, Creative Writing, and Technical Writing.
She was the Emerging Writer Lecturer at Gettysburg College, where she taught introductory and advanced creative writing classes. During her time at Gettysburg, she published two novels in Italy, No Big Deal and Pelli, with Nottetempo Editore. Her chapbook Oklahoma Bestiary was the runner-up for the 2023 Quarterly West Chapbook Award and came out in 2025 for Quarterly West. Her novella Shittysburg is forthcoming in Italy with Pidgin Edizioni.
She’s currently self-translating her first novel from Italian to English and finishing a collection of stories about animals in Oklahoma, while pursuing her passion for teaching writing to the wonderful students at Ottawa University.
