Take Your Musical Skills to the Next Level

At Ottawa University, you will be taught by professional musicians who are committed to working with you take your current musical skills and knowledge to new heights. You will have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of music ensembles that perform throughout the year.

Concerts and Special Events

Attend one of our concerts or special events to hear the Ottawa University difference. All of these events are free and open to the public.

Our faculty and students would be happy to meet with you before or after a performance to share more about the Braves music program.

Why Ottawa U?

Whether you plan to major in music or simply enjoy performing, there is a place for you at Ottawa University. Our students are taught by acclaimed working professionals who challenge them to rise to the next level in their music careers.

Our Wenger Practice Studios are state-of-the-art and feature a Virtual Acoustic Environment (VAE), which allows you to simulate performing in nine performance environments ranging from a small recital hall to a large cathedral. In addition, your session can be recorded for immediate playback to improve the learning environment and allow you to make adjustments to your performance style for that particular setting.

In 2015, Ottawa University became the first All Steinway School in Kansas. This is an honor that only a few other colleges and universities have achieved. It shows a commitment to excellence for our faculty and all students who take part in the music ensembles.

Facilities

The main building utilized for performances is the Fredrikson Chapel, which seats approximately 900. This facility includes an educational wing that houses practice rooms and the Wenger Practice Studios.

In addition, the Gibson Student Center provides the OU Jazz ensembles with a brand new facility in which to perform on a regular basis. Sharing their talents with the community, the Jazz Ensembles and student groups also hit the road and perform at local restaurants in Ottawa.

If you want to learn more about Braves music, speak with one of our music faculty, come to campus for a visit or audition, or contact, Jessica Freyermuth, Director of Music Program Outreach. We would love to help you explore continuing your musical career at Ottawa University.
