Founded in 1865, Ottawa University has earned its highly prestigious reputation. Throughout its 150+ years, the University has endeavored to educate its students for lifetimes of enlightened faith, exemplary service, inspired leadership, and personal significance. This tradition began with the Ottawa Native American tribe and now more than 22,000 OU graduates have made and continue to make valuable contributions in their communities, corporations, and churches. Throughout its history, Ottawa University has successfully adapted with the times to stay relevant and to continually provide innovative, accredited degree programs to meet the needs of our students.

OU has been a continually accredited university by the Higher Learning Commission since 1914. What is HLC accreditation? Colleges and universities in the United States voluntarily seek accreditation to ensure they meet or exceed defined quality standards. There are two types of accreditation: institutional and specialized. Institutional accreditation is granted by one of six regional accrediting bodies which use peer reviewers to evaluate the entire institution. It is necessary in order for students at an institution to be eligible for federal financial aid. Specific programs within an institution may be accredited by specialized accrediting bodies that evaluate programs against discipline standards.

For example:

The baccalaureate and master's degree Nursing program at Ottawa University is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) Baccalaureate/Graduate Degree Board of Commissioners has awarded Ottawa University accreditation of selected business programs.

The National Association of Teacher Education (NCATE) has awarded Ottawa University accreditation of its Teacher Education program.

The National Addiction Studies Accreditation Commission (NASAC) has awarded Ottawa University accreditation of its Addiction Counseling programs.

Ottawa University has been approved to participate in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA).

Tuition
Our goal at Ottawa University is to honor our mission and vision by serving students in ways that help them to achieve personal and career outcomes. We endeavor to offer our services and programs at pricing levels seen as an extraordinary value in the competitive marketplace of higher education.

We have many different ways in which students are able to save significantly on our standard tuition rates. For example:

The Transfer Advantage Program
Ottawa University is proud to partner with many local community and technical colleges in the states of Arizona, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Texas and Wisconsin. Through OU’s Transfer Advantage program, associate degree graduates from partner institutions are eligible for a special tuition rate to earn Ottawa bachelor’s degree. Transfer students can save up to 30% on tuition.

Visit the "Scholarships & Awards" section of our website for additional information.

Fees
While some schools have multiple fees, sometimes billed per credit hour or per class, the Technology Fee is the only fee we bill all enrolled students each term. This flat, per-term fee supplements our costs for the technological infrastructure we use for educational delivery and student experience university-wide.

Do you have college credits that you worked hard to earn and hope to transfer? At Ottawa University, we make it easy for you to transfer credits. We recognize and value the time and investment required to complete those credits. In fact, the majority of our online students have transferred from another school. That's why we accept up to 80 hours of transfer credits towards your bachelor’s degree. At Ottawa University, transfer credits completed successfully (passing grade of C or higher) at regionally accredited institutions of higher education are accepted.

Our enrollment advisors will perform a transfer credit evaluation for you free of charge to help you determine how your transfer credits will be applied to your degree program of choice. Transfer credits can be applied to fulfill our breadth area requirements (i.e. general education classes such as math, english composition, psychology, sociology, public speaking, etc.), toward major requirements, or as elective credit.

Ottawa University will require and evaluate all official transcripts and award credit towards the bachelor's degree in accordance with credit transfer guidelines.

You can request information or call us at 855-774-7714 today to connect with an enrollment advisor for your FREE transfer credit evaluation.
